I am a graphic designer and educator, originally from Minneapolis MN, with a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and a MA equivalent from the Basel School of Design in Switzerland. Following four years in the USAF, I co-founded and directed a graphic design business in Sacramento before going abroad to attend grad school. I remained in Europe as Design Director for Raychem Corporation in Belgium and Germany before returning to the US headquarters. I have lived in Baltimore for 30 years: 19 years as Creative Services Manager for PHH Arval, freelancing, teaching at area colleges and universities, and continuing to pursue fine arts interests.
I have always had a fascination with design history and how it shapes design philosophy and practice. In addition, I appreciate the application of abstract methodologies such as semiotics and visual rhetoric to design issues in the fields of brand identity and communication.
